Series Title: The Matter Of "IF" — Hope.

Public Art Site-specific Installation

Year: 2023
 -2024

The 'Matter Of If' series explores the intricate relationship between Hope and Choice through a metaphorical approach, weaving the narratives of our lives.

The ongoing 'Hope Installation' is a site-specific public art project that delves deep into the subjects of hope dichotomies and conventions in human perception. It aims to push the boundaries not only through the creation of art but also through its representation. The 'Hope' Installation series dismisses the barriers between people and art by bringing art directly to the public.

To date, the 'Hope Installation' series has engaged viewers during solo-day displays on three different beaches in the UAE. The installation consists of numerous stones, each handwritten and glazed with the word 'hope,' which adds new dimensions to the dialogue through both social and individual lenses in every scene. Additionally, under optimal conditions, the 'hopes' embedded within the darkness emit a subtle glow, symbolising the philosophy of the relation between hope and darkness and questioning its enduring presence. The 'Hope' series employs metaphorical approaches to convey the united element of everything that lives in this world, 'Water,' the element of interconnectedness.

Title: The Darker, The Brighter

darkroom video, sound, light and body Installation

Year: 2023

Total Arts Gallery, Dubai, UAE

A long time ago, someone I loved gave me a box full of darkness. It took me years to understand that this was a gift. It took me years to learn that dark is the core of life. And when I discovered that, something grew inside me. Something glows. Something that some call 'hope', I call 'choice'.

The installation, 'The Darker, The Brighter', is an immersive installation that incorporates elements of the body, sound, video, and luminescent objects within darkness. Born from a blend of life experiences and an exploration of the philosophical and scientific aspects of darkness, it delves into the shifting relationship between life, hope, and the future.

The installation aims to create a transition from light to darkness in space that works as a transmitter to the deep self. It is based on the Psychobiology effect of darkness in our bodies and minds, acting as a mirror to our inner selves.

Subsequently, the other entities of the installation—sound, motion, and lights—introduce a series of sensory experiences. These include Beta wave sounds (brainwave frequencies), known for enhancing focus and concentration, along with video motion and the radiant pillar of illuminating hope-fall. These carefully orchestrated elements seek to engage the human senses, inviting viewers to explore the depths of themselves and beyond through their story of hope within themselves."

Title: Blindness

Repetition Sculpture Installation

Year: 2021

Total Arts Gallery, Dubai, UAE

The study of our brain and nervous system shows that we experience a significant amount of "blindness" when we blink, but we hardly notice it. This challenges the common belief that we are constantly seeing when we are awake, which raises several questions about our perception.

The "blindness installation" symbolically represents how our understanding of reality can be incomplete or distorted. By focusing on how we see and interpret things, it makes us think about what we know. It's like a mirror that reflects questions about the gap between what we perceive and what we're sure of. This installation strives to create a question, challenging our certainty to open up discussions about the complexities of human perception.

The "blindness installation" features a series of eyeball-like sculptures placed on the floor-level installation, depicting a blinking action that turns into a stop-motion depending on the viewer's choice and action to step around the installation. Viewers become integral to the installation as they control what they see. Their movements determine the direction of the "eyeballs" and the pace of the blinking. Whether they walk or stand affects the installation's arrangement, creating a sense that the viewer has control over what they see.
